Sphonic supports newly-launched UNSHACKLED.com

5th August 2016 By //  by Need to Sort

Sphonic has announced that Manchester based, online mobile retailer UNSHACKLED.com – the first ever online retailer to sell mobile phone handsets and SIM deals independently – has deployed its innovative Workflow Manager (WFM) technology to counter the threats from fraud through its digital channels.

Founded by three former Phones 4U executives, UNSHACKLED.com launched in May 2016 to give more control to the consumer, by splitting the phone purchase from the SIM purchase, offering a new and transparent way to buy mobile that’s quicker, cheaper and hassle-free, ensuring consumers always get the best deal possible, with no hidden charges. The site has also partnered with peer-to-peer lender Zopa (who also recently announced they were using the Sphonic technology), in its first retail venture.

UNSHACKLED.com currently offers an extensive range of the industry’s most popular handsets and SIM deals across more than 20+ networks.

Sphonic’s WFM was created through the vision of its Founder & Chief Product Officer Andy Lee, who has a wealth of experience in the digital fraud management space having been the Head of Fraud at Lastminute.com from its early days to advising major enterprises through consultancy thereafter. Sphonic’s core product WFM acts as a Context-Broker that leverages data points from over 60 of the world’s leading data vendors and risk management technologies through an intelligent workflow engine. WFM enables access to vendor services through a single RESTful API, removing the complexity of multiple integrations, alongside Sphonic’s flow-control logic within the platform driving real-time insight to detect fraud efficiently as well as identifying genuine consumer behaviour.

Speaking of the partnership with Sphonic, John Whittle, CEO of UNSHACKLED.com said “Security is of paramount importance to our business, to reassure and protect our customers and partners against the threat of online fraud. To ensure we have the right defences in place, we conducted a search of the solutions in the market and quickly established that Sphonic ticked all the boxes due to its innovative approach to digital risk management and its extensive access to third party data. From our experiences with the Sphonic team to date, we are confident we have made the right selection for our fraud prevention needs over the immediate and long term.”

Riten Gohil CEO of Sphonic added: “We are extremely excited to be chosen by UNSHACKLED.com to select our security offering to provide peace of mind to its customers. Like many services that operate through digital channels, there is always the prospect of the threats from fraud and identity theft. Sphonic’s WFM technology is well equipped to address the challenges confronted by organisations like Unshackled.com with our flexible, extensive platform that is well valued by our rapidly growing client base”.

Sphonic’s technology is used by a wide range of clients, benefitting from its innovative services supported by a team of industry experts in the digital risk management space. Organisations like Betfair, Paypoint.net (now Pay360), City Index, Zopa and many others have been benefiting from Sphonic’s technology since the company was formed in 2012. Sphonic continues ongoing Research & Development, complementing its suite of products to address the growing demands in areas such Customer on-Boarding, AML, KYC, Fraud Detection & Monitoring as well as authentication.
